Omari Averette-Phillips is a PhD Candidate in History & African American Studies at UC Davis. His work explores class consciousness and solidarity in the late 19th century U.S. South. Omari is the Managing Editor of Clio and the Contemporary's "Surviving Grad School" section, Chair of the Society of Civil War Historian’s Graduate Student Connection Committee, the Co-Chair of the Organization of American Historians Graduate Student Committee, and one of the hosts of “New Books in African American Studies,” a podcast on the New Books Network.
