I'm a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of History at Binghamton University and the Graduate Fellow for the Center for Medieval and Renaissance Studies (CEMERS). My dissertation is titled "'Learned in the Art of Heavenly Combat': Clare of Assisi, Martyrdom, and Apocalyptic Expectations in the Middle Ages." I examine hagiography, sermons, liturgical hymns, and devotional art to showcase an unstudied dimension of Clare's legacy as a saint, namely, her representation as an apocalyptic and militant intercessor.
