Samuel Pierce is an Associate Professor of History at the University of South Carolina Aiken, specializing in the history of modern Europe with an emphasis on twentieth-century Spain. His current research projects explore Catholic mobilization in Spain's Second Republic, masculinity during the Spanish Civil War and early Franco regime, and intellectual and developmental disability in twentieth-century Spain. He teaches classes on the history of genocide, nationalism in modern Europe, and the history of disability.
